Pertaining to the Kobe Bryant trial which I can't say I have been following with particular interest although my hackles were preliminarily raised by Elanor a month or so ago in her post on the vilification of the woman who was allegedly raped by him. Anyway was watching The Today Show the other night (yes more procrastination, I am the master) and low and behold if they didn't run another story along the lines of "Kobe tells how his family and career have suffered due to the allegations, blah, blah, blah..." Now, like I said, I haven't been following the story too closely but it seems to me there has been (in the very least) some misguided reporting on this particular case which seems all too familiar, especially to us Australians. It seems that the preferential treatment given to elite athetes in terms of sexual misdemeanours is a worldwide phenomenon.
